Sylvester
Being psychic sometimes means connecting with your cat's long lost friend
I adopted Twilight at age 7 and had no information about her life before me. All I knew was she’d been in two different shelters before I adopted her. I’ll never forget the humane society workers taking me to the back room where Twilight had been quarantined. She was sick and being kept in the back while she healed.
Anything I’ve found out about her history has been through intuition and psychic downloads. Sometimes these are messages I’ve tried to seek out through tarot. Other times I’ve received messages through “random” downloads.
As a professional psychic I know that downloads feel random, but always carry important information. I’ve always had a deep knowing that Twilight misses another cat she knew previously.
This would often look like her running around the apartment at night hootin’ and hollering. Almost as if she was playing with another animal…and this was before I adopted my second cat.
I intuitively knew she was playing with another cat’s energy. I never knew if it was the cat’s spirit or she was simply channeling their energy because she missed them. I received an Akashic record reading once and the reader told me that “angels ride Twilight’s back.”
This was one confirmation of many that my Twilight had spirit friends around her.
There’s a grief I hold that I couldn’t have met Twilight sooner. I tell her this all the time…while also acknowledging the gratitude of us finding each other.
We couldn’t have met sooner because I was a freshman in college when she was little. She definitely wouldn’t have been allowed in my dorm room. I also used to have a huge fear of cats, so it wouldn’t have crossed my mind to adopt one.
How we met is literally the only way we could have. Still…I will always hold a sadness that I didn’t meet her baby self.
Twilight can be a fearful cat because of how many times she’s experienced unpredictability in her life. I can’t imagine how scary it was for her to leave her previous family and be put into a cage. Oof. I really can’t think about it for too long without being deep in my feelings.
It doesn’t take being a professional psychic to know that she’s a cat with trauma.
People often treat animals as if they don’t have an emotional landscape or also have attachment styles…
“Because they’re just animals.”
This couldn’t be further from the truth. Animals know how we’re feeling and they also know how we feel about them.
I often use tarot to check in with how my cats are feeling. Of course it’s important to always observe cat’s behavioral patterns. I also like to check in through psychic connection with my girls. Yes, animals can communicate to us in this way. You don’t have to be a professional psychic to connect with your animals either.
I often ask questions like:
“What is Twilight’s energy?”
“What does she need from me?”
“How does she feel about her sister today?”
Recently I was doing a reading for my cats and pulled the 3 of swords for Twilight’s energy.
I intuitively knew she was missing someone, but wasn’t sure who it was initially.
The 3 of swords is a tarot card associated with grief, suffering, trauma, and heartache. It’s a tough fucking card. Any time I see that card…I know there’s heart healing that needs to happen.
I clarified with the 3 of cups. A card that is associated mostly with friendship.
It was clicking that she was missing this mysterious cat friend from her past.
I pulled another oracle card to really confirm the message even further…
I know I’m psychic but I swear to god it never stops amazing me…
The card read: Teapot: Deep friendship with someone of the same sex
I looked over at Twilight from across the room as she was staring back at me.
We were communicating in the ethers.
A name immediately dropped down from the heavens and into my mind.
I heard clear as day, Sylvester.
I knew that name sounded familiar and took to Google.
Sylvester is the black and white cat from Looney Tunes.
Twilight just told me her friend’s name….
I knew in my bones that this was her friend she had been missing all of these years.
Twilight is a tuxedo cat and I wondered if this meant her friend was black and white too.
Later that night I was on FaceTime with Twilights other adoptive parent aka my former partner. Aka Twilight’s “mommy daddy” as I like to refer to them as.
I was retelling the story verbally so they could hear the play by play.
“Awww…Sylvester! That’s so sweet.”
Twilight’s head SHOT up from my bosom and her head started swiveling as she scanned the room.
I instantly started bawling because it was beyond clear she recognized the name. She was looking for her friend.
It was as if she really thought that Sylvester was there to visit her. It broke our hearts and we vowed to never say that name again.
This happened a few weeks ago and I knew I wanted to write about it.
I was writing part of this blog and then decided to take a midday walk. I was circling my block and suddenly stopped in my tracks.
‘Sylvester’ was plastered on a truck in front of me.
Another sign from the universe that the messages I’d been receiving were legit.
I hope this story is a reminder that your pets feel deeply too. Grief is not an experience that is solely felt by humans. I hope you experience animals with curiosity and openness moving forward.
Maybe if they feel safe enough…they just might share something important with you soon.
